"Sigh" - I have recently been delivered from the Word of Faith Cult I followed most of my life (I'm 40)and God has shown me many Biblical truths, how I love Him! How am I to find a church for our family that doesn't teach that it is okay to celebrate Christmas and Easter? Many claim they are mature enough to know they do not worship a tree or Ishtar, but they openly admit they use the pagan holiday to bring the lost to Christ. Don't they know that if you use the ways of the world to bring them to church, you will have to use the ways of the world to keep them? There is no church in my area that teach these holidays are pagan other than Kingdom Hall of course, and we certainly can't go there! So where is my family to go to church? I have been told I can't forsake the assembling of ourselves yet most pastors are clueless or in out right rebellion on this and other issues such as tattoos and rock music. The NT only gives examples of food and the sabbath days that are not to be fought over, it doesn't imply or include the words -"and the like", these seem to be the only non-essential trival items not to be quarreled over -a Christians' liberty toward foods not offered to idols and sabbath days, the rest of what I've mentioned is obviously having to do with holiness. Paul even tells women not to get all "gussied up" for church. While I do, on occation, wear makeup, I use it sparingly- not like a street walker or Tammy Fay Bakker, so where does one draw the line on this one? I would be fine with no makeup at all, my husband would be too, he seems to think I don't need it, God bless him!My soul is heavy and I have no peace in this matter- otherwise doctrinally sound churches teach idolitry worship in the form of tattoos, the lie that God loves all music, and pagan festivals such as Christmas and Easter. Some-"sigh" - even celebrate Halloween of all things, what to do,what to do? I am becomming very distrustful of the church in general and I have almost no peace about attending any church.I've been reading Revelation- the first four chapters regarding Jesus' dealings with His churches in Asia of which only two seem to have it right -Phillidelphia, and Smyrna, which are ironically the most persecuted and poor chruches near the synagogue of Satan, the rest were in some kind of moral and/or doctrinal error. Some chruches such as Sardis were told that only a few of their members were worthy enough to wear white, does that mean these faithful still attended the doctrinally deficient(dead)church in Sardis?I'm ready to give up and just have worship at home like the pioneer days. I've already been accused by some from the church we left of being judgmental, legalistic, religious, and an authority unto myself. I just want to serve my Lord and Savior in spirit and TRUTH according to the ABSOLUTES of His word, is that so wrong? Why don't most Christians and pastors want that too? Where are the Christians of like precious faith?
